Reuse

If they are in good cosmetic condition certain hard plastic items, such as large toys and garden furniture, may be able to be donated to the Reuse area (Bay B) at Smugglers Way Household Waste and Recycling Centre.  Reusable items are distributed through a wide variety of charities, providing high quality affordable white goods, furniture and other items such as bicycles to low income families.

Recycle

We have now introduced Rigid Plastics to the list of materials that residents can leave for recycling at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre.  Residents will find a separate container for them at the Centre.

These plastic items can be placed in the container:

Buckets, drums, bins and cans, laundry baskets, crates, storage boxes (flexible- non-shatterproof only), wheelie bins, pallets, garden furniture, plant pots and car bumpers.

These items should not be placed in the Rigid Plastic container and will need to be left for disposal:

Plastic film, traffic cones, plastics with paint residue, car seats (with textiles), garden hoses, food and drink plastic containers and cool boxes.
