Class trips (for KS1 and above)
See what happens to everything you throw away, and learn how you can help look after your waste and the environment.
See recycling in action (For KS1 and above)
You can book to visit our site or we can still offer a tour of the site via Zoom – please email education@wrwa.gov.uk
At our Education Centre pupils or staff groups can see recycling in action. Pupils will explore the history of waste and learn about the energy wasted by throwing away items rather than recycling them. They will see rubbish lorries tipping their loads, and get up close to our container cranes loading rubbish onto barges on the Thames. Pupils are then provided with practical information on which materials can be recycled and see how this happens. They will learn the importance of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – and find out what they can do to put them into practice.
If you want to find out more about the class trip (max 30 children), practical details for the day and how the trip can link to the curriculum, please download our teacher’s guide.
Class trips are FREE OF CHARGE and available for all schools in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Lambeth, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham. We cannot offer trips to schools outside these boroughs.
