You can also REGISTER YOUR INTEREST for future tours stating what borough you are resident of, and if you prefer a daytime or evening tour or either and we will be in touch when there is availability.
If you are a ready formed group – Community Group, Resident Group, Educational group or a businesses in our catchment area we can also arrange a weekday morning visit. Please email us with details of what borough you are in and how many in your group.
We can only provide tours of the Smugglers Way site to residents/businesses of our four boroughs (Lambeth, Wandsworth, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham).
Resident’s tour are for aged over 18 yrs only. Under 18’s can visit with their schools if the school is within our 4 boroughs.
The tour will last around 1.5 hours inc Q&A’s and will involve at least 45 mins of walking/standing.
If you have been offered a tour which includes the Machinery Halls sorting area, MRF (15 mins), there are some strict Health & Safety regulations to be followed:
– Attendees must be over 18.
– People who are pregnant, have vertigo, or fitted with a pacemaker, cannot go inside the machinery hall.
– You MUST wear thick soled shoes (no sandals or thin soled trainers e.g. converse) as there will be broken glass on the walkways. Plus please have arms and legs covered. These will be checked & assessed before entering.
– There is disabled access for sections of the tour, but for the sorting machinery hall there is sadly no disabled access and attendees will be required to climb several sets of stairs unaided. In the case of a fire alarm, attendees will need to be able to climb down steep sets of stairs safely and swiftly.
– No photos or filming inside the MRF. Phones must be put away.
– Visitors must stay close to the Education Officer at all times.
