Western Riverside Waste Authority is working with Podback, a not-for-profit coffee pod recycling service, to enable residents to recycle their coffee pods at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
How it works
- Plastic pods and aluminium pods are to be placed in their separate containers loose for recycling.
-
- Yes: Coffee pods put in to their appropriate container
- No: Bags, other items, or pods in the wrong container.
- Containers are collected and all pods are processed and recycled in the UK:
-
- Coffee grounds are sent for anaerobic digestion in Yorkshire, producing biogas and soil improver,
- Aluminium is recycled in Swansea, then used in packaging and the automotive industry, and
- Plastic is recycled in Yorkshire, then used in the furniture and manufacturing industries.
