You can now bring your used coffee pods for recycling at Smugglers Way Household Waste and Recycling Centre!

Western Riverside Waste Authority have partnered with Podback to provide recycling for your used coffee, tea and hot chocolate pods.

When visiting us, you will find the Podback station located in the Bay A area of the site. Please separate out you plastic and aluminium pods and place them loose in to the appropriate bin.

What happens to your used coffee pods?

Pods are taken to East Yorkshire where the coffee is removed. Coffee Grounds are then taken to a food waste recycling plant in South Yorkshire. This is then processed and goes on to become renewable energy and biofertiliser.

Plastic pods are kept in East Yorkshire where they are recycled to make new items like building materials and packaging. Aluminium pods are taken to South Wales where they are used to make drinks cans and car components.
