Recently, Elected Members from the Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA) undertook a site visit to Cringle Dock Transfer Station in Battersea to see firsthand how the facility manages the waste using sustainable river transport.
The visit provided members with an up-close look at the daily operations of the safeguarded wharf, where waste from our constituent boroughs is compacted and loaded directly onto Thames barges. This vital river-freight infrastructure keeps thousands of heavy lorry journeys off London’s busy roads every single year.

Members also took the opportunity to review the site’s unique positioning next to the iconic Battersea Power Station as plans progress to modernise the facility.
